Gary Laird Lead Vocals Harp and Penny Whistle

Gary has a wealth of experience in every aspect of the music business enjoying a long and successful career. His first introduction to music was learning to play the Violin at the age of 5. He then progressed to guitar both rhythm and lead and also plays harp and penny whistle.

He joined a country band in 1975 and then formed his own R & B band in 1979. He has since played in a number of rock bands notching up over 2500 live gigs.

1999 saw him co-form one of the most successful Status Quo tribute bands (QUO-incidence) in the country playing the rhythm guitar legend Rick Parfitt. Gary along with Rods Faces drummer Chris and bass player Andy, still play with QUO-incidence and can often be seen playing a double bill of Status Quo and Rod Stewart and The Faces. His time with QUO-incidence has seen him play all over Europe including the famous winter Olympic Stadium The Viking Ship in Oslo Norway, where they opened the World Speedway Championship playing to a crowd of over 8,000 which was screened live on Sky TV. During a brief break on the road for QUO-incidence Gary then formed another Status Quo tribute band called QUO2 which saw him again perform all over the UK including headlining the Truck Festival.

Playing Rod Stewart had been an ambition for years and after suggesting this to QI's drummer, Chris said "great idea but who the hell will we get to do the Rod Stewart". After several adverts to gain other experienced musicians the band was put together and a rehearsal arranged. Chris at this stage still had his doubts but all went well and Chris's reaction was "why the bloody hell has it taken you 8 years to say that you could do Rod".

Gary with his versatile vocals performs Rod Stewart like no other in the UK, and is in his element fronting the band with the same confidence Rod himself, with an uncanny likeness in his vocals and outrageous un colour coordinated dress sense, which includes several costume changes during a performance. He is with out any doubt the focal point of the band and the best find any Rod Stewart and The Faces tribute could have.
